Art & Design Department
Visual Arts is an important and relevant area of learning that contributes to creative and mental development of everyone. Through visual arts students have an outlet to develop communication in another way and have the op-portunity to experiment, investigate new things.
The Art & Design syllabus has always implemented various activities compro-mising a wide range of studies so that students completing their first 3 years are able to deal with a O’level syllabus when entering form 4.
From drawing techniques, learning different medium to craft work students in form 1&2 will keep on exploring the different fac-ets of visual arts.
In form 3, they will have acquired enough knowledge to start working in depth in the papers which are offered in O’level.
Offering them a glimpse of all these enabled a student entering form 4, to be more confident about his choice of papers for the 2 years of O’level . During these years students will reinforce their drawing technique, master various medium and learn how to work on their prepar-atory work, as they will be assessed through both the process and the end product. Another change, will be sit-ting for an exams of 6hrs for each paper as from form 4.
In Upper forms the standard as well as the amount of work will raise.(8hrs of exams or paper 1 which is a compulsory paper). Stu-dents at this stage should have reached a higher level of understanding and gain confidence in the realiza-tion of the end product. They should also be able to completely work by them-selves, analyse and evalu-ate their work.
